I’m going to be unpopular for this, but I have to point out that it’s once again THAT time of year. Yes, we’re still relishing in the long, languid days of summer and the idea of putting anything heavier than a light summer dress on is the furthest thing from your mind but fall IS coming and you don’t want to be caught unawares!
Fall Fashion
Autumn is my favourite time of year. The temperatures start to drop and clothes go from light and airy to structured and warm. You can begin layering your clothes to create a certain silouette and get really fun with patterns and colour combinations. It’s also the time of year that you can put away those cute wedges and break out a sexy pair of boots to coordinate with a smart skirt and blouse set. A stylish sissy always prepares a few months ahead of time, so when the weather turns crisp, you’re ready to step out looking your best.
Are you stylish?
You’re in luck this season. One look at the runway show for Ralph Lauren this season and you’ll see an array of pretty pastel tops layered over wide legged grey trousers which, while inspired by menswear, accentuates the feminine with it’s flowing lines and nipped-in waist. Not all sissies have to wear dresses in order to feel feminine, just as not all women wear dresses every day but there are some very cute options for this as well.
Midiskirts are a classic fall staple. Longer than a mini but not quite a maxi dress, you can pair them with bold coloured tights or you can learn to put on stockings and feel especially femme. It’s as important to remain chic as it is to blend in with the crowd, so you want to keep abreast of what the designers are putting out each season. Fall 2014 brings menswear inspired fashion with some lovely animal prints as well as the tried and true plaid.
What NOT to wear.
Part of being a woman is also in knowing what NOT to wear, despite the designers repeated attempts at making certain things fashionable. You have to know your own body and understand what compliments you and what makes you look less than fabulous. You can lust after the waist-length capes of Kate Spade New York all you want, but if you’re not built like a runway model, chances are good it won’t look as good on you as it did on her. Take a good look at your body and recognize what compliments and what detracts. Dress for your shape, not your fashion sense.
